Studies on the Determination of Serum Mucoprotein

Abstract
|
|
|
The mucoprotein levels in serum were studied on 40 healthy young Korean and experimental rabbits with a new method modified f: om Lowry´s folin phenol microdetermination method of protein.
The mucoprotein vas separated by means of the method of tiVinzIer et al. The protein moiety vas determined at 280 mu after sim ply dissolving the mucoprotein in 4.0
sodium carbonate solution and sug:~r moiety was de termined by the method of Graft at al. The results obtained were:
1. The nerv microdetermination method of protein ~; as much simpler than Lowry´ color development method and more adequate in determination of serum mucoprotein than Lo~,~ r5- or Winzler method considering the concentration of mucoprotein in serum.
2. In the young Korean, the normal level of the protein moiety of serum mucoprotein was 125.6--25.78 mg % and sugar moiety was 5.7=3.56mg%. In the rabbits, the protein moiety was 170.8 31.55 mg% and sugar moiety was ~. 92.24. mg%.
